Painting for Adepticon Doubles

So my friend and i are doing Imperial. As i only have a Sisters of battle army i decided to play them lol. Tho i LOVE my harlequins, its more fun to play with friends!

Here is a fast update, i decided to go Red over Purple as i didnt care how to purple turned out. I highly enjoy painting red, so its more fun to paint also!.

The main color is Red, i spray black 1st, then used Army Painter Chaotic Red (No GW color matches) and spray a Zenith highlight of Dragon Red (Mephiston Red or GW)

I'll be back much sooner this next time around. I'll post some vehicles and Battle Sisters next.

Fast update, Going to Adepticon!

Hey everyone, my Harlequins had to be put on pause for now for Adepticon.

Me and a friend are going to go as doubles, he is a Imperial only player and since i have 1 imperial army and he only has imperial we decided to go as imperial for doubles.

I'll be playing Sisters of Battle (Adeptus Ministorum).

Due to Chapter APprove being release in a week we wont have a list until then, tho i am working on my SoB now.

B.c the fast releases of Codex's and reading them, i've been a bit behind, the Craftworld Eldar codex and Tyranids came out and after digesting them we talked about Adepticon.

I will be posting army pics soon, tho i wont be posting to many lists options for a while, we need to practice.

BUT! I will have some practice BatReps for it!

Will update a bit more and faster soon. ttyl!

Painting Plateau's and how to over come them

Everyone has plateau's this is for sure, but as someone that that spend 15yrs learning and teaching (tho it wasn't in painting but in another arts), there are ways help past that plateau easier/more fun but its honestly just time spent.

The 1st 500-1000hrs you will see great improvements and it will slow down, after you get a couple thousand hours into it you dont really see the progression, but you are still learning new techniques, you are understand the details better, able to do it faster/easier etc... and this is where you just need to continue for another few thousand hours to really see the difference, but once you do you will be amazing at it.

A really fun thing to do to help you get and "see" the better results is learning new techniques and styles, especially something you are interested in.

There are many ways/techniques for each type of job, always learn other ways and find what you like better.

Great example: FIRE, there are 3-4 popular ways to paint fire, take an hour or 2
1) watch videos on all these ways
2) take another hour and practice each one to find the one you like
3) Pick the one you like and practice it a few times
4) Paint a model and be impress!
5) Practice it and repeat with new techniques!

Here is my 1st attempt at fire doing these steps

DE Character Strategy? Ur-Ghul, pics!

Playing a game tonight and wanted to try a neat strategy, it is the Court of Archon; Ur-Ghuls.

They are 30pt 3w characters with 4/6 attacks (6 on charge), the idea is a character bomb that is cheap to help with hordes and against horde shooting.  When a player has 2 LARGE horde units (Like Gants, Cultists, Guardsman etc..) and you place 4 characters in front of them that could kill about 15 of them on the charge, they can either shoot that unit of 1 and waste many shots, or get charged, the idea is to place them in a way that i could also charge a tank or something more important.

Its way to costly to be effective currently, but if they get cheaper in the future it might work, so i wanted to try it out.

I needed to paint mine up, instead of the Ur-Ghul models (I dont like finecast) I used Crypt Ghuls and they work just fine.

Update Yncarne

Sorry, its been a bit, i had a commission piece for a friend i finished up.

Just a quick update, i wanted to have some of my Harlequins (manly Cegorach ones) to have glitter on them.

Painting glitter is hard... very hard, it never looks right (at least for me) so i decided to get extra fine glitter, paint some very thin glue on the model and sprinkle real glitter, then seal it.

It worked out well, here is the pic

I now its a small pic, i'm working on getting a proper lighting box for the shadows so i can add more light.

Yncarne WIP

Hey all.

I love the Yncarne model, tho i do have Craftworld Eldar, i do not like the style to much. So i am converting my Yncarne into more of a Harlequin style. I decided to base it off of the Harlequin god Cegorach.

Hope it will be finished by the end of today or tomorrow, then i'll finish my Shadowseers and start on my Troupes.

Im trying to make a glitter theme on the black spots, if it doesnt turn out very well i'll just deal with it and get glitter paint in the future, the nature of glitter and the model, they extra thickness of extra paint wont look to bad.
